Position Description:
This position reports to the Director for Admissions and primarily coordinates prospective student activities between applicant and student services to ensure smooth processing of applications to the College of Medicine. Admissions, recruitment, counseling, marketing, outreach and application review are all significant functions of this position .Applicants must be resident of Texas.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
Represent the University to prospective students, parents, counselors and other individuals involved in the college selection process. Plan and implement recruitment activities for assigned territories, including travel to distant cities within the Canada and abroad.
Conduct presentations and represent the university in various recruitment events.
Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and explain opportunities available at IAU. One-on-one admissions counseling to diverse population is an important responsibility of this position. Admissions counseling occurs primarily by in-person appointments, phone calls and emails.
Conduct Interviews, review application essays and other materials submitted by applicants for the purposes of making admission decisions.
Execute huge volume of phone calls to respond to enquiries and explain processes and answer questions about the programs offered at International American University.
Coordinate and contribute to the success of programs designed to recruit students to the university by collaborating with various academic advising and career development departments of high schools, colleges and universities.
Gain awareness of various state licensing requirements in the United States and Canada in order to be able to advise prospective students.
In close consultation with the Director for Admissions, manage ongoing strategic communications with pre-medical counselors, recruiting agencies, third party associates and international affiliates.
