
The Dean for Basic Science has leadership and administrative responsibilities for professional student recruitment, the College admissions program, professional curriculum, and student retention. The Dean oversees academic standards and academic and student support services related to the professional program. The Dean interacts with faculty on academic matters through collegiate committees and through their respective department heads. The Dean works closely with and answers directly to the Executive Dean of the College of Medicine on all issues related to academic and student affairs
Candidates for this position should hold an M.D. or Ph.D. degree and demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism. At least 3 years of experience as an administrator/educator in Academic/Student Affairs in a North American medical school are preferred. Critical skills include excellent communication abilities, interpersonal sensitivity, time management and prudent judgment.
The Dean will be responsible for the academic program, including development of curriculum; supervision of all academic and student affairs; development of relationships with governmental officials; recruitment of faculty, and liaison with hospitals and members of the medical community. Experience in US accreditation guidelines will be considered as a plus. Salary for this position is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
