Pre - Med at Texas A&M Commerce

IAU College of Medicine strongly encourages students to consider completing Pre-Medical requirements at Texas A&M-Commerce, located near Dallas, TX. The Pre-Medical program offered through IAU at Texas A&M Commerce can be completed in two years. Students who successfully complete the 90 credit hour accelerated program are eligible to matriculate into our Four-Year M.D. Program.

This program is unique in the sense that it allows completion of Pre-Medical Program within two years. Most other medical programs require you to complete a 4 year bachelors program with a major in pre-medical sciences to gain acceptance. Our Two year Pre-medical + four year MD program offers brilliant high school graduates a rare opportunity to attain a MD degree within 6 years straight out of high school.

IAU College of Medicine in association with Texas A&M Commerce conducts several extracurricular activities for premed students. Activities such as volunteer medical camps, CPR Training and Certification, Voluntary work in local hospitals, shadowing local physicians and participating in medical seminars will foster an increased learning curve.

Our program offers students the opportunity to take the MCAT after completion of premed program. Pre-Med Students also have the option to stay back and earn another 30 credits to graduate with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas A&M University AND a guaranteed enrollment at IAU College of Medicine.

Completing your Pre-Medical requirements at an accredited US University such as Texas A&M Commerce is looked upon favorably by various State Licensing Boards that enforce special regulations on pre-medical education for licensure purposes. Admission to the Program

Student applying to the premedical program must submit separate applications to both IAU College of Medicine and Texas A&M Commerce. The following documents must be submitted to the IAU Office of Admissions at 5999 Summerside Dr Ste 220, Dallas, TX 75252. A personal interview with the IAU admissions committee will be scheduled within two business days upon receipt of the following documents.

A minimum score of 1050 on the Math and Reading part of the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or 21 on the ACT is recommended to gain acceptance into this unique program. Overall acceptance into our program is contingent upon acceptance into Texas A&M Commerce. Please note that intakes occur only for the Fall and Spring semesters for the pre-medical program. Promotion to Four Year MD Program

To be eligible for promotion to our Four-Year M.D. Program, pre-medical students must have attained a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 for their undergraduate coursework and be recommended by the Pre-medical advisor at Texas A&M Commerce.
